Santa Monica, CA and Creve Coeur, MO – January 11, 2017 – GoodRx, America’s #1 source for prescription prices and savings, and Focus Script LLC, a leading independent specialized pharmacy claims management company, today announced an exclusive partnership to introduce the first compound pharmacy cash discount card program. This unique program will give consumers access to pricing information and discounts on specific therapeutic classes of compounded medications, and is designed to deliver a consistent patient and provider experience through a certified network of accredited and credentialed pharmacies.
This marks the first-ever discount network for compounded drugs, a class of medications that account for more than $2 billion in annual sales.
The compound pharmacy cash discount card program will utilize the FocusScript Certified Network. New pharmacies interested in the program will be certified by FocusScript. FocusScript pharmacies are accredited and credentialed through the industry-leading UCAP program, which is administered in an exclusive partnership with the National Association of Boards of Pharmacy (NABP).
Doug Hirsch, co-founder and co-CEO of GoodRx, stated, “Compounded medications are among the most complex prescriptions consumers have the challenge of purchasing. With this new partnership, we are continuing our mission to make prescriptions more affordable for all Americans. We look forward to working with FocusScript to provide patients with the information they need to make better choices when it comes to their health care.”
Cynthia Meiners, President and CEO of FocusScript, stated, “We are excited about the opportunity to work with GoodRx to ensure access to affordable compounding pharmacy for all consumers, while also assuring quality and excellence. We see this partnership as an important extension of our capabilities and in line with our mission to address small but significant pharmacy markets that have a disproportionate impact.”
The program will be made available to consumers and physicians in 2017.
